You can do your bit by the following measures:

1. Only visit areas where you can see wildlife in their natural habitats, such as national parks, conservancies and national reserves or genuine wildlife sanctuaries, rehabilitation facilities and rescue centres that have the highest possible standards of animal care and where there is no breeding for commercial purposes. Some examples of such centres in Kenya are the Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage, the Giraffe Centre and the Solio Conservancy Rhino Orphanage.
2. Listen to and follow the guidance from your qualified safari guide about the correct way to behave around wildlife in order to stay safe and stop the harassment of animals.
3. Do not ask your guide to do anything that will lead to harassment of animals like trying to get closer for a better picture, crowding the wildlife, asking the guide to go off-road in areas where this is not allowed.
4. Try and stay away from crowded sightings and ask your guide to explore quieter areas of the parks to reduce the impact on the environment and wildlife.
5. Don’t shout/talk in loud voices at wildlife sightings.
6. At the camps/lodges which may be unfenced and which may have wildlife passing through, always adhere to the guidance given at your initial briefing and never approach the animals to touch/pet them. If unsure, ask the staff when you arrive what to do in case of any wildlife interactions at the camp. Never walk alone at night at the camps – always have a guard to escort you.
7. Do not engage in any wildlife interactions which involve using wild animals for entertainment and performances or for rides on the animals or any other such close interactions. Please see Point 1. in regards to genuine sanctuaries.
8. Use the re-useable water bottle that is provided/carry your own refillable water bottle to reduce the use of single-use plastic bottles. The camps and our vehicles have reuseable large bottles of water and your guide can help you fill your bottle as needed.
9. Another way to curb plastic pollution and eliminate the use of Single-use plastics is to say NO to plastic straws/coffee cups with lids/plastic cutlery/ any throw away packaging.
10. For waste disposal during game drives and transfers, our guides will have brown/canvas bags in the vehicle which you can use. Do not through waste out of the windows of the vehicle.
11. Be mindful of water usage throughout your safari. Support water conservation by reducing the flow of water when taking a shower, reducing your shower time and closing all taps when not in use. Report any water leakages/leaking taps to the camp/lodge management if this happens.
12. Re-use towels instead of getting them replaced daily as this will help in the overall reduction of water use.
13. Do not purchase any items made from ivory, sea shells, wild animal hair or bone.
14. When at the coast, do not pick up sea shells, coral stones or any wildlife like starfish as this harms the ecosystem and the animals.
15. Take many photos, but do not take any items from the wild and leave the places that you visit cleaner and with a positive impact.
16. Be cognizant to be respectful in your dressing around local people and also be respectful to their customs and traditions.
17. Please do not give out food/sweets to children who you may see in the towns/villages and along the roadside as this creates a culture of begging.
